We LOVE Thanksgiving at our bakery. We love the fact that for many Missoulians, their Holiday Table isn’t complete without the Pies, Dinner Rolls, and other tasty bits that we make. It’s an honor we don’t take lightly. Thinking back to all of our own Family Thanksgiving Celebrations, we can remember every item on the menu, who made it, and why we loved it. Knowing that our customers and their families have similar associations and memories of the things we make in our kitchen is a great motivator and a point of pride for our staff. We do our best, because Grandma is watching.
The Menu
Let’s start with Pie. We know, you’re supposed to end with dessert, but we think that dessert is important enough that it warrants serious consideration. So, with that end in mind, let’s discuss. All of the various fruit pie choices that we have available year ’round are available for Thanksgiving. Please take a look at the “Pies and More” page for more information about what we do and how we do it. In addition to our usual Fruit and Cream Pie selections, we offer the BEST Pumpkin Pie around. Yes, that’s
a pretty lofty claim. But we’re prepared to let you make that decision for yourself. Pumpkin pie is available by the slice, in the weeks leading up to Turkey Day, so you can taste and decide.
Next, we need to talk about bread. The role that a roll plays in a typical Thanksgiving Feast is not necessarily a glamourous one. The Roll is most definitely NOT the star of this particular movie. But don’t underestimate what it does have to contribute. The right Roll, or assortment of Rolls, is the glue that holds the whole meal together. All that gravy isn’t going to just sop itself up, you know. The Roll is the Character Actor in the film that is the Thanksgiving Meal. It doesn’t steal scenes, but instead makes the scenes complete and believable. We offer Five different takes on the venerable Dinner Roll to choose from for your Holiday table.
The Farm Roll- Old School Cool. It is the perfect execution of the Classic American Soft White Roll: lightly dusted with flour on the outside, soft, chewy and just the slightest bit sweet on the inside.
The Corn Cranberry Roll- The Farm Roll with a little Holiday Flair. We add a little cornmeal and finely chopped Cranberries to our already divine Farm Dough to arrive at this fine Holiday concoction.
The Honey Whole Wheat Roll- The Whole Grain Choice. We use the finest local Honey available to make our Whole Wheat Rolls.
The Herb Seed Roll- Our Honey Whole Wheat Dough, with the addition of just the right blend of Herbs and Seeds.
The Parkerhouse Roll- Traditional in name only. We cut this Roll from our scratch made Croissant Dough, and roll it in Shredded Asiago & Parmesan Cheeses. The end result is a buttery, cheesy masterpiece: not to be forgotten by your dinner guests anytime soon.
The Stuffing Mix
“How do you make your stuffing? There must be a secret ingredient…”
This is how the conversation will go after your next Thanksgiving Dinner. We can’t exactly promise that it will, but experience has told us that there is a fairly good chance. But WHY? Well, the true secret of memorable Stuffing is to start with memorable bread. That’s where we come in. We slice, dry, and bag a couple thousand pounds of our delicious bread every year, and sell it as Stuffing Mix. Each bag contains just the right selection of our various Breads, already prepared and ready for you to use it as the base for your Thanksgiving Stuffing. What you do from there is up to you, of course. Add whatever you like, whatever your family likes. The end result always be Stuffing that gets noticed, without any extra work. That’s a win/win situation.
When in doubt, call
We can help take some of the stress and worry out of your holiday experience. All you have to do is call. Place an order for the stuff you want and we’ll have it ready and waiting for you when you come in. Earlier is better than later (some of our customers call in their Special Orders for Thanksgiving at the end of October!), but it’s the calling ahead that makes all the difference. One less thing to worry about means more time to spend with your family and friends, enjoying the spoils of your wise forethought.
